Instructors: Lead instructor is Rod Sanford, P.I.D.T. Director. Assistant instructors are all certified Defensive Tactics, Arrest & Control and Escape From Holds instructors.
Course Goal: This course is designed for peace officers and current defensive tactics and/or arrest & control instructors for the purpose of enhancing their skills and knowledge to escape from and/or teach escape from holds. This is a 24-hour intensive format course. The course covers the P.O.S.T. Perishable Skills Program in Arrest & Control.
Course Objectives
I. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and tactics of Defensive Tactics (Arrest & Control and Self-Defense) including tactical decision-making, tactical concepts, awareness model and officer performance in close combat situations.
II. Demonstrate proficiency in the physical techniques of escaping from common holds to include: Stance, positioning, footwork and movement, roll and recovery, control holds, take downs, prone handcuffing, escape from chokes, strangles, headlocks, bear hugs, full nelson, wrist grasps and pushes.
